Prestashop 1.6.x.x product import

There are some tasks that you need to evaluate before proceed to read this article.
Are you able to log to your site via ftp?
Do you have any confidence with kron task, like windows too?
if the answer is yes to both, you will be able to use this self php script, for import a excel file with category and products directly in the database of prestashop.
I have created for prestashop 1.6.0.9 and i think it will work for the next version, not for the previous.
the script follow this idea:

1. check the created category
2. update the category with new category if not present
3. check the product already present in the catalogue
4. if already present update the quantity and the price
5. if not insert this new product

the point number 4th is really important because if you have a tons of product reload all of this could be a problem for your bandwidth...

in my previous post i have spoked about the point 1 and 2, now i show which table of the db are involved in the other point:

for create the script you must reiterate many times like the number of the product around the tables, take care of the id's of each product and don't make confusion and in a fast way you will be able to obtain a good sripts.

Categories auto upload script

After many times spent on the web looking for a simple way for upload the categories on the new release of prestashop 1.6.x.x, i have decided to create a php script by myself.

First of all the database schema is needed , and you can find here DATABASE SCHEMA .

Like showed by te schema the tablet used are:

• ps_category
• ps_category_lang
• ps_category_shop 

Then you should create the script that follow the prestashop idea for the category, means  all the categories are subcategory of the root not only for the name but for ID too ,

Example: root id 1 nleft 1 nright 20
 cat1 id 2 nleft 1 nright 5
cat2 id 3 nleft 6 nright 7
this means that cat1 are subfolder of root and could have subcategory itself too, and cat2 is subfolder too but could not have subcategory.

When you have uploaded the category to ps_category don't forget to upload the textual part to ps_category_lang like the name of category.

I've created a script for upload the product by csv file too, but is a complete another story...

Bing places per Aziende

Finalmente è arrivato anche in Italia il posizionamento delle aziende sulle mappe di Bing, con il servizio gratuito “Bing places”. Posizionare la vostra attività sulle mappe di Bing è molto semplice, a questo link Bing places potrete con pochi passi scoprire se siete già presenti, e aggiungervi nel caso non ci siate.

Certo, prima di poter accedere il servizio dovete attivare un’account con microsoft, se non ne avete già uno.

La domanda reale però è: “ma mi interessa davvero?”; Si!

Posizionarsi su Bing può avere alcuni benefici, in primis perché anche se questo motore di ricerca raccoglie il 2-3%

del traffico italiano (come potete vedere nell’immagine) oggi ci sono pochissimi siti posizionati, dunque chi prima arriva meglio appare fin da subito.

Inoltre Bing rappresenta una ricerca più di “nicchia” rispetto a Google, dunque è più facile raggiungere clienti che si trasformano in un lead e magari in clienti, dunque se la nostra scheda azienda è posizionata abbiamo maggiori possibilità.

In ultima istanza vi è la semplicissima considerazione generale, se un servizio è offerto gratuitamente perché non approfittarne?

Il link building è un'attività che propone di aumentare in maniera consistente i link in inbound verso il mio dominio o la mia pagina di destinazione, eventualmente anche verso la landing page del prodotto che voglio sponsorizzare.

Ma come si crea una campagna di link building efficace?

Innanzi tutto non buttando via risorse e facendo una lavoro efficiente!

Valutate il PageRank del vostro sito, perchè è l'indice su cui si va a lavorare con la campagna di link building; Successivamente dovete collezionare una lista di siti che hanno effettuano il dofollow sui link presenti sul dominio.

L'attributo dofollow permette il trasferimento del PageRank del sito che ospiterà il vostro link, verso il vostro.

Ma tutti i siti che ospiteranno il vostro backlink vanno bene?

No ovviamente, dovrete stare ben attenti a non far puntare al vostro dominio backlink che arrivano da siti con il PageRank più basso del vostro, perchè un backlink da un dominio molto famoso è molto "pesante" rispetto ad un sito anonimo.

L'attività di link building è tipicamente un lavoro semplice , ma molto dispensioso in termini di tempo, ce ne vuole molto, a meno che non usiate tool automatici, o vi affidiate ad un professionista Seo .

Mobile or not Mobile?

Se fino a poco tempo fa la scelta di quale piattaforma usare per la costruzione di un sito web non era in discussione "facciamo tutto standard per il monitor 15 pollici" oggi , nel 2013 , qualche domanda dobbiamo porcela.
E magari più di qualche domanda.

La vendita di computer nel senso stretto del termine, Desktop e Notebook, nella prima parte di quest'anno è scesa del quattordici percento , circa il doppio di quello che ci si aspettava, contro un mercato dei componenti elettronici che invece sta crescendo ancora.
Questa fetta di quota di mercato è andata a smartphone e tablet, che hanno una fascia di prezzo più bassa e sono sicuramente più mobile di un laptop di qualunque formato.
Due semplici numeri possono spiegare il fenomeno in corso, le vendite di tablet sono aumentate di oltre il 100% dall'inizio dell'anno rispetto al 2012 e la previsione è di vendere circa novecento ( 900 ) milioni di dispositivi mobili contro appena trecento cinquanta di laptop e desktop.

Questa variazione rende necessario oggi aggiungere ai nostri siti internet la versione per dispositivi mobili , o comunque ove possibile adeguarli, per raccogliere questo segmento di clientela che non può essere lasciata allo sbando.
Realizzare un sito mobile richiede la stessa attenzione di un sito classico e richiede sempre l'ausilio di professionisti del web, anche in questo segmento mobile l'indicizzazione e le tecniche Seo sono fortemente da tenere in considerazione, per guadagnare nuova clientela.

Il PageRank di Google, questo sconosciuto

Il PageRank è un'algoritmo brevettato da Google....... ecco, qui la metà delle persone che leggerà questo post si sarà già stufata e sarà passata oltre.

Perchè tutti parlano della stessa cosa pensando che il loro interlocutore abbia delle conoscenze tecniche percui capisca di cosa si parla.

Oggi spiegeremo invece in un linguaggio più "normale" cos'è il PageRank.

Il PageRank è il più conosciuto e più vecchio indicatore che Google usi per catalogare un sito. Si , perchè se ancora non lo si sa, prima di apparire nei risultati di ricerca , i vostro sito viene analizzato e catalogato dai motori di ricerca, e in particolar modo da Google.

Dunque o vi fate trovare e catalogare, o nessuno vi vedrà mai nei risultati dei motori di ricerca (SERP). 

Si ok, ma il PageRank?

Il PageRank è un' indice numerico che vale da 0 a 10 e che viene assegnato al vostro sito dopo essere analizzato, dove 0 è il peggiore e 10 è il meglio, e indica quanto il vostro sito è popolare.

Bel concetto la "popolarità" nel mondo di internet vero?

Per misurare la popolarità Google usa due attributi , quanti link puntano al vostro sito e quanto sono popolari a loro volta questi link. Se al vostro sito puntano dieci link di siti spam o dieci link di siti istituzionali la cosa è profondamente diversa, nel primo caso avete un grosso problema nel secondo un grosso vantaggio.

La classica rappresentazione del PageRank

Dunque colti da irrefrenabile necessità di link cerco in tutti i modi di avere link autorevoli che punto al mio sito! Non è cosi semplice! Per iniziare i link entranti dovranno essere di un certo tipo , poi è da considerare che ci sono circa duecento (200!!!) fattori che Google analizza prima di posizionare il vostro sito nelle SERP, primo fra tutti la coerenza del vostro sito con il termine della ricerca.

Se il vostro sito vende formaggio ma vi avete scritto in maniera errata tutt'altro, anche se il vostro PageRank è 10 non apparirete certo nei risultati di ricerca per un'utente che cerca "rivendita formaggio".

In conclusione oggi il PageRank serve ma è forse superato, vi sono molto altre cose da fare in un sito per renderlo protagonista nei risultati di ricerca, per questo è sempre utile rivolgersi ad un consulente di siti web , per far posizionare il sito nei motori di ricerca in maniera ottimale, con le tecniche Seo più moderne.

How much is fast your site?

The speed of your site it's one of the most important parameter that the search engines consider when evaluate a website.

Ok, you have a very nice website with a lot of javascript effect, or video and a tons of pictures of your best achievement, so you want that all your client can watch.

Pay attention because all this wonderful things make heavy your site, and the engines penalize this!

So if possible consider to put your javascript code in the end of the code, when a user open your page first of all watch the layout not the effect on the click button.

It's better , if you can manage the code, to minify the code of javascript and css, with a webtool like minify javascript, that make the hard work for you.

Are you showing a full size picture or a thumb of your image in the page?

If is a thumb why put all the picture and than manage via css? re size the pictures and use this small picture, all the site will increase the speed.

Last but don't least don't forget to choose a good hosting , with a fast bandwith and if possible to manage the .htaccess file for caching your files.
